Which documents to gather to apply for the Geneva subsidy?

JMBy Juliette Marsaud·Published 8 July 2026·Updated 13 August 2026

Once your entitlement to the subsidy has been checked, the longest part is often gathering the right documents. Here is a clear list of what to prepare for an application in Geneva, and which form to use depending on your situation.

The basic documents

Whatever your situation, plan for:

These are the elements used to establish your determining income (RDU) and therefore your entitlement to the subsidy.

The right form for your situation

The Health Insurance Service (SAM) offers a different form for each case. The right choice avoids a rejected file or a delay:

All the official forms are gathered on the ge.ch application forms page.

Supporting documents in case of a change

If your situation has recently changed (job loss, separation, retirement, birth, drop in activity), attach the documents that prove it: end-of-contract letter, pension decision, birth certificate, new payslips. A change in circumstances can open or increase your entitlement without waiting for the next year.

Where to file and how long it takes

The complete file is filed with the SAM. Processing usually takes 4 to 6 weeks. The general filing deadline for the year is 30 November: it is best to apply early so you do not lose months of subsidy.

We prepare your file, for free

Choosing the right form and gathering the right documents discourages many eligible people. Our advisers build your file from A to Z and submit it to the SAM, free of charge. Start by estimating your subsidy in 2 minutes.
